Hello Faustmann,
Appreciate your posts --- and really value your posts about switching from ZYTIGA over to XTANDI.
I can see that you are beginning to see some improvement in your PSA score --- so, I'm thankful to hear your news on that front. Let us know how you're faring as you continue the crossover from ZYTIGA to XTANDI --- side effects, lab results, and so forth.
I think as a band of brothers we've worked hard collectively to put together shared experiences over time with radiation, chemotherapy, and ADT hormone shots --- an amazing effort from the fellows here over time.
Now we've got these newer breakthrough medications like ZYTIGA and XTANDI --- I hope we can all continue over time to continue sharing our collective experiences with these two medications --- they are prescribed interchangeably, depending on each individual case or doctor's background experience --- I know that the idea is that, in time, the powers of both ZYTIGA and XTANDI might be combined somehow --- and there is no definitive trial that shows which drug should be prescribed first --- or which one might ultimately triumph in its performance over the other --- so here some of us are, down in the trenches --- seeing how far each one of us can ride on the train called ZYTIGA --- while some of our other brothers jump on the train called XTANDI --- and we need to do our best to share our experiences on that train ride, in the interest of helping each other --- and for other fellows on down the line, waiting for the ZYTIGA & XTANDI train ...
Doctors still don't have a clear vision of how long ZYTIGA or XTANDI might work for each fellow --- for some, it's a bust, with no help garnered at all --- for others, it's a lifeline that arrives in the nick of time --- just when other beacons of hope began to flicker and dim, as other treatments began to fail ... in my case, as a classroom teacher, ZYTIGA has carried me through an entire school year ... I have a lot of gratitude for that. My oncologist speaks of another patient of his that has been on ZYTIGA for three years and still going strong ...
What's valuable about your experience, Faustmann, is the invaluable experience you will have in experiencing the CROSSOVER between ZYTIGA and XTANDI --- we need to get more of those experiences documented here --- we are lacking those first-hand accounts on these newer breakthrough medications --- so, hoping you will continue to post your thoughts and experiences along the way, now that you've switched over to XTANDI.
Thanks for always being a loyal "Battle Brother" here, Faustmann !
