I have been lurking since my last post but don't usually chime in unless I think I can contribute. It's been 2 and a half years since my RALP. I think I am doing well. My problems are minor compared to others and my latest ultra sensitive PSA was .007 so I am still on a lucky streak. My recovery took a long time but at 2 and a half years I think I am as fully recovered as I am going to get. There's a little stress incontinence and I can't hold it in like a camel anymore but it's not a big deal. The most annoying medical issue that has lingered are bowel issues that no one really talks about. Let's just say that my lingering problem is getting "banded." Finally my "little friend" is noticeably smaller but with just one dose of 5mg seems to work ok. Which leads me to the reason for the post.

I was part of the recovery effort after 9/11. I never thought about a connection to Pca until I received an email about it. To make a long story short, after extensive exams and interviews at both Mt. Sinai and NYU, I was qualified for the WTC health program. Since I had already gone through treatment and didn't want to switch my care from my present urologist, the main benefit that I received was free Cialis which as some of you know, can be expensive. Personally I have had no relatives with a history of Pca so who knows?

Jack, I only mentioned that I had no relatives with Pca to bring up the possibility of the exposure. Who knows? I am a dentist and was involved in the ID effort from 9/12/01 until 5/30/02. My efforts included handling of remains and, on occasion, going into the " pit."

As part of the OCME effort I was also involved with American Airlines flight 587 which crashed in Queens in November of 2001.

The reason that Pca was included in the list of included conditions relative to 9/11 is that the incidence of the disease was much higher than would be expected in the general population.
