Yesterday whole night my father was not able to sleep well due to slight pain in back. Early morning had breakfast after lunch fever and chills. We did several blood tests on morning. Fever was 102F. WBC were 1.3k very low :( called our oncologist he recommended for IV antibiotics and IV fluids. Fever now 98.7F. CREATININE reached 1from 0.8.

Received first cycle of taxotere on 12may 2016.

So sorry to hear about your Father's bad night. Hopefully it will resolve quickly.

Hi Jannnett,

Sorry your dad is having a tough time. I had my first infusion on May 9. The bad days did not really hit until day four. I had the fever and chills day five through day ten. Your dad is in the that time zone. Tylenol to reduce the fever is worth doing. Get plenty of fluids and eat as much as possible to keep strength up. I ate apple sauce, pudding, soup and the like. It will all taste like wall paste but it is easy to eat and digest. Smoothies were welcome also.

Good luck to you and your dad. I think he will start to feel better tomorrow or next.

While I was going through chemotherapy treatments, just like your father is right now, my doctor told me to watch very carefully for ANY sign of a fever.

My oncologist recommended I keep a thermometer available, in case there was any sign of a fever.

He told me that a fever of 100 or more was considered "cause for alarm" and that I was to get to the clinic immediately. My oncologist watched over me very carefully during those months that I was undergoing chemo treatments.

So --- keep a close eye on your father --- in my case, my doctor prescribed NEULASTA shots, which boost the immune system after each chemo infusion. They are VERY expensive, but they helped keep my immune system intact. In my case, medical insurance covered the cost of the NEULASTA shots.

I hope that your father feels better very soon !

We have started monocef IV infusion and IV fluids. Neulasta shots cannot be given as oncologist told it will be given only on day second of second chemo cycle. Fever checked today it's 103 .

I an so sorry you are having the struggle with high fever. 103 is very high. Hang in there, friend. Tomorrow will likely be better. I hope your dad doesn't have to deal with this next tx, and can get emulates. And as I've said before, he sure is lucky to have you!

Thank-you always for your kind words.unfortunately I m pursuing my doctorate from other part of India (Delhi) and my family stays in Kashmir. I am feeling bad that I am not there for support these days. I will be moving there next week nd wll stay thr when he wll start his next cycle. Talked to my father he feeling better and he having temperature of 100 now. Hope it wl gt more better tomorrow.
Missing my father badly :(

Temperature 96F today. Very fine today with lot of weakness..

glad his fever has broken, but with a temp that low, you can still feel weak and sick, hope it stabilizes for him
