Hey everyone.
I had the surgery at 8:00AM on June 1. In recovery by noon. Dr said everything went textbook. He said everything looked good and nothing concerned him. Full nerve sparing on left, partial on right. I know he does not have microscopic eyes, but he's seen just about everything in those previous 4,600 surgeries, so I feel pretty good going into my recovery phase.
I was in recovery for 5 hours as a room was not ready. At 5:00, they moved me into a private room. Walked the hallways at 11:00PM for about 20 mins. Really tough getting in and out of bed. Slept good as pain killers knocked me out. Breakfast in hospital was solid food, but I just asked for oatmeal, yogurt and applesauce.
I came home yesterday. I was hurting. Walked around backyard for 25 mins. Dinner was 2 poached eggs on toast. Had a jello later in night. Slept in recliner good last night as I was still taking the pain pills.
Both yesterday and today had a lot of anesthesia pain in shoulders. Really bad. Used heat pad on shoulders based on someones recommendation. Worked pretty good.
Breakfast this AM was oatmeal again. I have no apatite yet. Walked about 20 mins this afternoon then into my first shower. Passed gas for the first time after shower (3 times!), what a relief. Climbed into my bed and took a nap. Took my last pain pill at 4:30AM this morning. I am hoping I am done with them. Started stool softeners in hospital and took over the counter ones today. I did a bowel prep for surgery, so there just ain't too much in me now.
I have abdominal bloating. Looks like I am a couple months pregnant. I think walking will take care of that. Right now, I plan to walk at least another 20 mins tonight. I thought I'd be gung-ho on walking, but it is hard when you are hurting.
Managing the catheter has been a concern. It seems that when I sit, it drains well, but when I lay down, it does not do it so well. So, I sit up, and it begins draining, I wait awhile, then lay back down.
So, that was a quick update. Sorry for any typos, as I am doing this on my phone.
I am hoping that every day gets me a little better and nothing comes up that would slow that down. Thanks for the well wishes. My pathology appt is Tuesday. I am nervous, but will finally know where I stand.
