Last week I had a cystoscopy to assess my prostate/bladder. The prostate size is now 300gm. A few months ago I was told from a TRUS scan that I had a large median lobe. But this new urologist who did the cystoscopy said there was NO median lobe. Rather the prostate transitional zone was highly elongated along the urethra and closing it down.
This urologist performs da Vinci robotic surgeries. He said that the shape of the prostate did not lend itself to robotic surgery since there was no median lobe. Instead he referred me to a urologist who performs GLL.
Has anyone had experience with GLL for very large prostates? I have heard that this procedure is not recommended for prostates over 150gm because of excessive heating of the tissue. Every time I speak to a different urologist I get a different answer. I requested antibiotics prior to the cystoscopy last week as a precaution against UTIs but was refused. Now I have one - the first in my life.
I know this is a PCa thread and apologize for raising BPH issues but the knowledge I gain here is so valuable. Thanks.
