ignore button

I have observed that when you ignore via a automated or mechanical method...it only proves that You are unable to ignore them.......

Personally I have no use for the ignore button but Beth's point about not seeing the bait being one way not to take it is a good one.

There have been comments some make in response to something I post that I find irritating and it takes a lot for me not to respond. I try hard to remember that the internet is just a different animal and some are more inclined to make somewhat rude opposing comments that they would not make in real life face to face. Even if people disagree face to face with me it is usually a polite exchange. On the internet it can sometimes be a free for all and I try very hard not to be drawn into it. If your opinion is that important to you that you always need to 'win' so be it.

Also there are times where some are in the middle of their squabbles here that I am so tempted to take a side and join in. While I find some of these arguments somewhat entertaining, many a good thread has been ruined by them. And even if I pick the side that I believe to be 'right' all I am really doing is jumping on someone's opinion and view of that particular thread, something I really wouldn't do in 'real life' either.

For the most part if most of us did not respond to a posters comment that we find so disagreeable it would die a quick death. But I realize some believe that the arguing is a good way to hash things out and come to some sort of truth. I just don't believe I am going to find my truth on the internet....Jim

Actually I would not consider ignoring anyone. I like the diversity of thought we have here.

Jnf...I really wasn't referring to folks who use the button on my posts tho I am glad that you include me in your diversity of thought... Most of my posts...unless I specifically ask a specific question...really are meant to be read and not responded to...If I had my druthers...I prefer to be able to block some from ever reading my posts...ya know... the whole pearl before swine thing...but even so a human will always be rendered metaphorically if not actually...one way or the other regardless...so what the heck...bottom line as the locals say in hawaii..." no ack "{act} to the holier than tho....I mean really whose kidding who??? as if anyone had the answer...we be luckky to even now...the question
