We just returned from Providence cancer center in Portland Oregon. Upon our arrival I was impressed. The medical assistants the nurses and even the people checking us in were so nice. After meeting my new oncologist I knew I would no longer be returning to Kaiser Permanente. We discussed events leading up to my diagnosis and my original prognosis right up until where we are today. Unlike my Kaiser doctor, my new doctor discussed the future. His name is Brendan Curti. He only sees patients one day a week. The remainder of the time he is working with his research team in the field of immunology. He was very thorough. He said that obviously there was nothing we need to do right now with an undetectable PSA and clear scans but he said sooner or later my PSA is going to start to creep up and when it reaches .5 he would do a PET scan. This is something my kaiser doctor referred to as a waste of resources. He talked about
using radiation if there was small spots of active cancer in my body somewhere. He talked about
using other immunotherapies. He talked about
using chemotherapy to reset Zytiga He talked about
using extandi. He talked about
clinical trials with Prostvac. He talked about
using other immunotherapy such as 0X 40 . And when I told him about
my 30+ year plan he didn't blink an eye he said OK then I guess we've have a plan. I am very happy and will be making the change as soon as possible
