the second opinion Uro. said he wanted me on one of these types of meds to promote urination, before I start the IGRT sessions in Oct. I tried some finesteride a year ago before I knew I had PC and it really clogged up my already bad sinuses. Had sinus surgery in 2010 and don`t want to get that flared up. Do any of you out there have recommendations of a drug for this that doesn`t make you stuffy and clogged up? Maybe different side effect with everyone....thought one of you may have had a similar reaction and found a med that worked better . I researched them all,, and possible stuffy nose is on all the list for side effects.

Perhaps an alpha blocker that is more specific to urinary alpha-adrenergic receptors, like Rapaflo, may have fewer sinus SEs than Flomax. Why don't you try it and see? There are about a dozen alpha-blockers you can try. Urologists usually get samples from drug companies.

Where did you see that sinusitis is a known side effect of finasteride or dutasteride? I don't see anything in the published literature that lists that as an adverse side effect, and I don't understand how blocking formation of DHT would have such an effect.

FWIW, I have bad sinuses and had sinus surgery way back without great benefit.

I was on Finasteride for years, and have been on Rapaflo with a taper off over the last year. Not aware of any difference in my sinuses with either med.

TA and WO...thanks for input ...at Webmd and Drugs .com I read about less common side effects could be stuffy nose ...runny nose ...painful urination? Seems weird that they should cause painful urination in some men. Anyway , I also have a bud that started on Finasteride and had the problem of the stuffy nose ...he found that changing Mfg`s helped....the few I took last year immediately stuffed me up. The uro did say he could give me one that didn`t do it .....just wanted to run this by you guys .....I will wait and see how it goes this fall....Thanks
