Interesting thread. My degree is in Chemistry and although I completely agree with the initial poster I have recently run across interesting research. Read this article, http://www.labmanager.com/news/2018/04/drinking-baking-soda-could-be-an-inexpensive-safe-way-to-combat-autoimmune-disease?utm_campaign=NEWSLETTER_LM_Food-Science-Tools-and-Techniques_2018&utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=62814052&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--tIBdM3EnucveQmQIy8k8rpaPlz4rOgq7oFI8CXW3YQFU9n3aT30jReIfw_QEwGnhRhCTHuk5qqFA8g_ZXBzB_6iCEjHB4hJr8Ebf0O4nZRZDLmK0&_hsmi=62814052#.WvRjQYgvyUk
If down-regulating the immune system is the result of baking soda therapy, then why would it get rid of cancer? Some cancer therapies up-regulate the immune system to "eat" the cancer. Other therapies poison it selectively (at least they try to do that).
My gut feeling is that this is not the panacea that some make it out to be. I have a personal connection to this. My brother is currently trying this as well as he also has prostate cancer.

Well, there you go! I suppose he is also having some form of main stream treatment, either that or qualifies for AS. Either way, if he is trying it, will he do better or worse? Now that may not be easy to determine, as we will all vary- treated or not- in how we will do. But if he does remarkably better than expected, then that will "prove" nothing but will be -at least for some of us- be one more green light for this "treatment" that has not gone away, regardless of the correct chemistry theories as to why it can not possibly work. (after all, on the outside chance it does help, it is quite possible we have no clue as to why, and it actually has nothing to do with the pH/acid of blood or tumor.)
OTOH, if he does noticeably worse than expected, though once again proving nothing, that will be a rather large negative for many.
Also, are there any warnings of harm associated with taking some bicarb? (the molasses may be more worrisome, as it might raise blood sugar and insulin levels, which I am not a fan of doing, but maybe that is just me). But if there are no warnings against it, right here at this forum are a boatload of folks at varying levels of advancement and treatment who, unless warned not to by their doctors, could give it a try. And then we could poll members to see if things went better or worse than expected. Now I know there are authorities even on this forum who are going to condemn me for suggesting such a dangerous blasphemy, and how unscientific such an undertaking would be. OTOH, if 10 folks try it(hopefully not forbidden by there docs) and- kind of like CashlessClay and his diet- say 8 of those folks do noticeably better than expected, are you really going to ignore it? Well, I'm sure some of us would.
Dr. Who, may I ask: how does the chemistry work if there is little to no stomach acid at the time the bicarb is taken? And if repeated a short time later after acid has been neutralized?
This all makes me think of my days of resuscitating patients during my anesthesia career. Guess what was on every crash cart? Yep, good old Sodium Bicarb! In great big old syringes for straight IV injection! Very common to inject this to help overcome the blood acidosis level( measured by blood gas testing) that inevitably occurred during these crises. We would also measure the CO2 being breathed out by the patient through the endotracheal tube(not just during resuscitation, but also during normal general anesthesia), and adjust our ventilation settings according to too much CO2 vs too little. One day during my training, I pointed out to my superior how the CO2 had suddenly jumped upward, indicating maybe we needed to increase our ventilation. Then I was reminded by said superior about
how we had just injected a big bolus of NaBicarb, which as pointed out in the OP, can lead to increased CO2! What does that have to do with curing cancer with bicarb? Nothing!
Does taking a dose of sody help fight cancer? Probably not, but I have no clue. Interesting studies you guys have posted that might generate a hypothesis among some of us.
