Laprascopic vs Robotic

BDB, the two main surgical methods are "open" and "robotic". Pure laparascopic prostate surgery is not all that commonly done. In the open method, you have a single long incision from your belly button down, and with the robotic, you have one relatively long one (mine is about 2 1/5 inches) above the belly button, the up to 5 small slits across your belly below your belly button for the robot arms.

There is not any significant difference in side effects or cancer treatment between the two methods. The caveat is about how experienced is the surgeon at the method being used?

No difference, given equally qualified surgeons. Some robotic surgeons like the precision microscopy. Some open surgeons like the "haptic feedback," which means they like getting their hands in there and feeling it.

Whoops - I read Halbert's remark and noticed you were asking about robotic vs non-robotic laparoscopic rather than open. On the off chance that you meant robotic vs open, I'll leave this post. Otherwise, ignore it.

There was no off chance of what he meant.. Halberts post seemingly created the confusion tho in reality the confusion was in OP's mind...the description Halbert presented differentiated the two nicely...tho even halbert needn't have brought the other lap up...I mean for what purpose...evidence of knowledge or fame. Newbie has no idea what we mean..tho if his communication was clearer, i.e specifying tween the 2... open surgery or Robotic lap ...{ he knew}...we wouldn't even be in this quando, er, ah quandry... a notarized document from all three suggesting otherwise would not halt the certainty of my view..to my view...epitaph.... expertise is key whatever the tx..

In my defense I honestly did not see that{I should have} with that said,,, I apologise for confusing every one...BDB has the key to the puzzle I created or we can just let it go...I still kinda feel BDB was refering to open vs robotic due to lack of knowledge...laproscopic just isn't used in prostectemies that often if ever... Why would anyone even ask that question...in this day and age.. plus the description you used sure sounded like open. I had open with 1... 4 1/2" scar and the tiny pratt poke...period. Did I just give and take away...so be it...apologies specifically to TA.. the off chance is exactly what is probably the correct sense to have had....the shadow knows...bdb...can you help us with this...
