There are many articles and postings related to statins being helpful for those
with pca. Am assuming that refers also to those with recurrent pca who are on ADT
but not sure, since my context here is about someone with recurrent pca on adt)
Have read also that statins can have some negative side effects like with memory
for example or with muscle or joint pain,
Could those negative statin side effects magnify any similar effects from ADT itself ?
(such as memory issues or weaker muscles or muscle mass)?
Or is the general thinking that the positive effects of statins in these cases of pca
override their risks, especially their risks that could make other potential ADT side effects even worse ?
PS #1 - I realize that ADT side effects related to cardiovascular can be helped by statins or other heart medications, assuming that is true, but here am just trying to understand if
other statin side effects might have a negative effect, especially if those negative effects might be same as some other ADT side effects)
PS #2 - I don't know if giving statins to those on ADT for recurrence, is widespread as to oncologists, for those who don't have at present obvious heart disease risks
or if its more common that the partient needs to track their cardio health themself
or with their pcp or a cardiologist ?
