Hello,
Some fellows here can advise you on medications or patches that doctors can prescribe to mitigate the effects of ADT hormone shots such as LUPRON, FIRMAGON, or ZOLADEX ... over time, I've tried all 3 versions of these shots. I've been on continuous ADT shots for over 3 years now ...
Meanwhile, here are some proactive ways to improve your comfort levels IMMEDIATELY, starting today, in terms of the hot flashes you are describing ...
Here we go ...
First off --- keep a glass of ice water or cold water bottle nearby throughout the day --- including at home and at work and by your bedside at night.
Secondly --- ceiling fans and room fans work wonders --- just some cooler, CIRCULATING air can make a real difference in your life, even in the winter time. Room fans are very affordable --- and ceiling fans can easily be installed in the main rooms of your house.
Third --- I know some fellows keep frozen "gel packs" or frozen "ice packs" by their bedside at night --- in case they wake up in the night with a hot flash. Again --- keep a cold water bottle by your bedside through the night.
Fourth --- use cool COTTON sheets and cool cotton PILLOWCASES --- many fellows experience "night sweats" while on ADT shots. You can also double-case each pillow with two pillowcases, to protect your pillows.
Fifth --- I wear a light athletic t-shirt during the day --- with a button-down Oxford dress shirt over that --- you can roll up the sleeves and adjust the buttons on the Oxford shirt --- keeping yourself cooler and more comfortable in this way.
Fortunately --- the hot flash sensations are usually brief in duration --- but these are some quick and easy tips that might help you navigate better through your day and evening. Some helpful "survival tips" I've learned ... over the course of time !
