Burning during urination

Hello. It's been six weeks since my surgery and things seem to be going good so far. Has anyone experienced a burning towards the end of urination? I have had this off and on. At first it was a urinary tract infection. Now I'm not sure but it doesn't want to go away.

I can't provide any advice specific to the extended time the catheter due to RP surgery, however, I did have surgery in 2013 for AFIB where I had a catheter that killed when it was removed... maybe it wasn't placed right, but it was extremely painful. It ended up causing burning for a few weeks after the surgery. I was prescribed Phenazopyridine which really really helped while my urinary tract recovered.

If you had a infection, then your recovery time might be even longer ... perhaps ask your doctor for a medication like Pheno for help while you recover?

Pyridium, generic cheap med, great for this problem will make your urine orange, and anything the urine touches, i.e. underwear. Been reports of people wearing contact lenses turning orange too. But great for relieving that burning feeling. I was on it several times

My catheter experiences were all related to other procedures, but the last time I had a Foley (for replacing pacemaker and leads), it was really uncomfortable while in place and I had burning during urination for a week or 10 days after - and that was after only having the catheter in place for about 18 hours. I think a lot has to do with how the catheter lies within the bladder. Sometimes it is just "there" and other times it causes irritation. This can take a while to resolve, even without the impacts of prostatectomy.
