Yes - fewer SEs with cone beam CT alignment of soft tissue. It is possible that some you spoke to didn't know they were doing that.

By using the CT scan, they can also check on the fullness of your bladder and bowel, which can affect the accuracy of the beam.

At the start of one of my treatments, they stopped and told me I needed to empty my bowel. That was a pain, because it of course meant that I also emptied my bladder, so that meant more drinking and an hours wait before they could do the treatment.

Without the CT scan they could never determine that.

It's called "tenesmus." It's an illusion that there's something in there you need to get rid of. The nerves misinterpret inflammation as pressure. Straining will cause hemorrhage and bleeding. Once you know that, you can mentally readjust and ignore it.

I am undergoing SRT and just completed 33 of 38 sessions today. I had the same experience as Chask where they stopped the Tx. Since then I prep by going an hour and a half before my treatment and then filling my bladder 40 minutes before my table time. It works well unless they are running behind schedule. Some days they've been ahead and I haven't been as full as I should be. Overall I have trained my body and it's worked out ok but they do indeed do the CT before each treatment and if nothing else it gives me peace of mind to know they are paying close attention. I have had changes to bowel habits and some bladder irritation but nothing major so far. Five Txs to go and hoping for a successful outcome.
