Androgel TRT and Slight Rise in Ultrasensitive PSA Test Post-RP

Has anyone that has had RP and SRT had a slight rise in their PSA after beginning TRT? My PSA has increased from 0.02 where it has been for 2.5 years to 0.05 after being on Androgel TRT for 4 months. My physician is not alarmed considering my case and will have me retest in 4 months to see if it trends higher in which case he said might be a cause for concern. I've had a substantial improvement in mood and energy after being on Androgel for 4 months and all of the research I have read says that there is little evidence of correlation between TRT and PCa recurrence in both low risk and high risk patients following RP or SRT. I am providing an update on PSA progression after being on TRT for 8 months for others who are either on TRT or considering TRT after surgery and/or radiation therapy.

After a recent modest rise in PSA to 0.18 and consultation with my physician I have decided to continue on with TRT with close monitoring because of the significant improvement in my quality of life. There is much discussion about the use of TRT post-treatment for PCa. The current treatment guideline is that TRT can be administered to "select" patients that have been treated for PCa with careful monitoring and patient counseling about risks of clinical recurrence.

My highest PSA (0.12) occurred 11 months after having radical prostatectomy after which I began adjuvant (or late salvage) IGRT just in case it was recurrence of PCa. After IGRT, my PSA returned dropped to 0.03 for 30 months. On a routine checkup I was tested for testosterone, had low T at 183 and began TRT in July of 2016.

I think that it is possible that the PSA rise to 0.12 which occurred 11 months after RP surgery and the subsequent reduction 1 month later to 0.10 just prior to IGRT may have indicated my PSA baseline after reestablishment of blood flow to any residual prostate tissue left behind after RP surgery.

TRT over the last 8 months has significantly improved vascular function in my lower abdomen and genitourinary tissues and I am hoping for same - that the therapy has increased blood flow to (healthy) residual prostate tissue that is growing and releasing small amounts of PSA.

I am also hopeful that TRT might help prevent recurrence of PCa. I am concerned that if I end therapy that asides from the general symptoms of Low-T that I will suffer from osteoporosis which may cause physical disability.
