Hi
I'm new here older than most 75 was told I had prostite
infection,was given 30 days of antibiotics
my psa went from 4.8 to 4.2 now I'm
watching was never told if the drop
was a good sign,I should have asked
and thanks to you I will be speaking up
and try to ask more questions

That's a great sign. A drop in PSA after antibiotics is a clear sign of infection.

You're going to be fine.

hello J75 and WELCOME !! sounds like you will be "fine" , I`m told that too...and I hope they are right . You didn`t add much info about the infection and what led the doctor to decide that. My PSA was 4.6 at age 66 and was put on the antibiotics...dropped to 4.5(big deal) but the primary care doc. said let watch it and see . 10 months later it spiked to 6.8...so biopsy time. A friend of mine had a big spike ,from 3 to 8 something and a big scare along with that while taking the antibiotics...turned out to lower the psa back down to around 3( probable infection). So, I guess what I`m getting at is the small change in the PSA may or may not tell the story. Just stay ON TOP of it ...I hope your doc. will test again at sooner than regular intervals......and yes ...I hope we will be fine!~David

3 months 4.8. Antibiotics 4.2. My uro was a complete jerk now my pcp is doing psa every 3 months
Yes I have read that antibiotics only clear up 5% of guys with infection
Hope my next psa is down
