Hi Everyone,
My husband had the tube and stent but in his kidney but they could not remove the tube.
The urologist said the cancer is to strong for the tube so he wants to remove part of the prostate cancer that is in the kidney and the stones.
I have heard removing the cancer would make it grow more.
What does everyone think Steve should have done?
The surgery would be Dec 13th or 28th.

Hi Jacky,
I hope TA is still checking in often enough to weigh in on this question. That is a very tough spot Steve is in right now. I've never heard of debulking the tumor causing spread, but the surgery itself will be rough, I'm sure. How is he feeling now? What's his PSA now?

Steve's PSA was down to 4.6 from 59 in July
He has only had 1 Lupron shot his next one is in Jan.
He has been on Casodex since Sept.
The kidney gives him jolts sometimes when he urinates otherwise he feels ok mostly.
The nephrostomy tube bothers him.
He does not have to wear the bag at this time but they kept the tube in until the urologist decides what to do.
We were offered Dec 13 or 28th for the surgery.
How is Gary doing?

Gary is doing okay most days. He is scheduled for blood work and chemo this week, but I think his platelets are low again due to the amount of bruising he has on his arms and chest. Today he is throwing up a lot. I appreciate good thoughts and prayers his way. I will post a thread later this week after Dr visit.

Major surgery at 73? I think I would like to talk to a Radiation Oncologist first..And a Medical Oncologist..

I am glad Gary is feeling ok.
Steve also has low platelets ect.
He had leukemia 11 years ago.
Prayers for Gary.

I am going to email his MO.
His next appointment is Dec 19th with the MO
The urologist is saying the surgery is out patient.
Steve is 73
