2 1/2 Weeks Post NSRP - Continuing Abdominal Pain

I’m still experiencing a lot of pain on the right side of my abdomen extending from the far right port site down to my pubic bone. PA, when I had my catheter removed, said this was common as this location is manipulated most by the surgeon in DaVinci procedures. This is the same site that hemorrhaged a week after surgery when I sneezed. That bleed is all gone, but I coughed again yesterday and had a repeat of the sharp searing pain. Thought it might be a hernia, but my GP palpated and said no.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Sorry to hear that you problems post surgery. Sometimes that happens and we hear about those kinds of pain from time to time. It's not common, but sometimes it happens. Most hernias can be felt, so if your GP didn't feel one, I would believe that. If you still have questions, a surgeon might better to ask about it.

2 1/2 weeks post surgery, you're likely still healing and pains wouldn't be uncommon. Things should start to feel better as the weeks go by. Still, keep complaining to the doc about problems. Most times the answer is , "it will be better soon," but sometimes it needs to be checked out.

We need to remember that RP is indeed major surgery. The aftermath hurts quite a lot for most of us and it doesn't get better real fast. My member hurt a lot for months afterwards...took my mind off of all of those quarter - sized blisters I got from the Steri - Strip bandages.
