HDR Brachytherapy 2-year update ->

I visited my urologist last week and got the following report:

PSA 0.41

My appointment was Wednesday morning and that's when my blood was drawn. My wife's a teacher and she hosted her school staff Christmas party the night before. I'll spare y'all the details, but you know how they say don't ejaculate 48-hours before the test? Well, yada yada yada, and didn't keep to that rule. My urologist, a woman also, said it was inconclusive if that really made a difference on the test.

I was worried (since it had only been like 10 hours, but as you can see that's my lowest PSA yet!

T 220

My testosterone was low again at 220 or so and she put me on therapy so I've had one shot. Not sure I feel any different yet but it's only been a week.

Still, my only side effects are low volume ejaculate and mild ED. I was having a little mild ED before so it's not a huge change but I still think the HDR has caused some. She said raising my T might help with that as well. I'm taking Cialis (5 20 mg per month and would like 10).

Think you now HAVE to have sex just before future PSA tests to maintain the same testing conditions. Explain to your wife it is a medical necessity.


Since you are now 2 years post treatment are they moving you to 6 month PSA testing? I've been told that if things are looking good at 2 years (it's looking good so far) that is what I should start doing.

You know, I'm supposed to be getting a PSA test once from my urologist and once from my RO, but I go to my primary care doctor for an annual checkup, and to check the ol' cholesterol numbers so I get them to add the PSA test as well.

Since I'm starting on T therapy I have to get it checked after three weeks and three months. She (urologist) sounded like she won't be surprised to see a bounce.
