2 years

I was reflecting earlier today that it was about 2 years ago this week that I made my decision to treat my PC with the surgical option. My first post in 'my story' linked in my signature file was January 16, 2015. I had been participating here for a few weeks prior to that.

For me, RALP was the right choice. With my upgrade from G6 with 3/12 cores all on one side to G7 with bilateral involvement in all 4 quadrants, I'm one of those for whom treatment was probably inevitable. I did most things right, I believe:

I came here with questions and asked them.
I read the sticky notes as they existed then.
I traveled, with my diagnosing Uro's blessing, to a NCCN center of excellence
I had meetings with experts in the available treatments there
I weighed the risks and benefits and made what felt like a rational decision with my family's support
I went in with confidence in my decision and my surgeon and his team
I was careful in how I managed my immediate recovery
I keep hanging out here, helping as I can when I see a need

Life is good. I've had some major changes recently, and they mostly merit a shrug. Why? Because I know what really matters, in ways that I didn't know before.

Thanks, guys (and a few gals) for being here when I came in. You showed the way with grace and humor and seriousness when needed. I hope I can keep it going for the next guy who come in.

I know how you feel.i am 3 years out and down to 6 month check ups with my uro but I still get a little apprehensive until I get my PSA back.

Congrats on two years (with another 35 or so to come)! I've always felt that you are one of most reasonable, level-headed posters here when it comes to giving advice so it's certainly no surprised that you took such a level-headed approach to your own diagnosis!

Hard to believe it's been over two years ago since we met for coffee and I shared my story with you.
I visit HW from time to time and offer advice when I think it's worthwhile but always make it a point to look for your posts to see how you are doing.
I realize you have moved but if you ever get the chance to visit St. Louis again reach out, lunch is on me.
