All of sudden very jaundice looking

In the last couple of days my husband is looking very jaundice. Especially his eye lids. They're almost bright yellow. We are one week away from visiting med onc.

Is this something that can wait or should I call it in? He is on Lupron and casodex (50mg).

I would get in to see someone to at least get a blood test that you can take to your onc appointment.

New onset jaundice is definitely a go-see-the-doctor-now thing; I'd hit the ER if I could not get in to see the doc within 24 hrs;

Beyond our pay grade. This sounds serious (liver issues?).

I think it is essential that you call.

Agree with all above. ANYTIME you are concerned about a new symptom, the rule should be call the doctor.

Got an email back from the Med Onc. He was short and sweet and said "no issue from a cancer standpoint."

I guess we'll see next week when the blood tests are run at his appointment. I am still concerned. We are also seeing some yellowing around the tips of his nails. Maybe we'll just contact his PCP tomorrow.

I don't want to be alarmist, but "no issue from a cancer standpoint" doesn't mean there's not another issue. None of us are doctors here, but I would definitely pursue this--people just don't turn yellow.

I side with the take an action team here. Jaundice is a sign of hepatic issues. If it were me I'd go to the quick care center or PCP asap. I'd also stop any possible contaminants including supplements to see if the condone improves.

Call his Primary Care Doctor EARLY tomorrow! Lupron can cause serious liver complications. We are in the process of monitoring my husband's liver functions because his PCP noted a rise in his liver tests. His urologist says no way (even though he has been on Lupron for more than 3 years)- but check their site- it is a serious side effect!

Thank you all so much. I'm emailing PCP through the portal. She's always very responsive and I'm sure will order a blood test.

I will let you know what I find out.

On a side note, the answer from the oncologist that it's not a cancer issue, is IMO a bad answer at best. He basically said "not my job"
