I'm 61, on of December 2015 my PSA level was 11.1, had a biopsy, came out negative. Had my blood work done this past December, everything normal except my PSA level went up to 14.5. How conferring is this

That would be concerning to me. Last year's PSA was high enough, but this year's shows it is not going down. I'd want some additional testing before I conclude it is "nothing."
I'm sure some of the more experienced guys will be along soon to advise which tests might be more useful to you. My case was really straightforward. First elevated PSA led to first biopsy, and bingo. . . we have PCa.

Welcome to HW.
I'd be concerned. The standard 12 core biopsy is a bit random. You might need a MRI guided biopsy and some scans.
you might also consider some other blood tests like the PHI, freePSA. Those might give you more info.
A consistently rising PSA is something to keep looking into.

Hi Mark-
It may just be some prostatitis. Sometimes antibiotics help, most often it doesn't. They usually just wait a few months and retest. How big is your prostate? Did he feel anything on the DRE?
When they do retest, I agree with Andrew that a PHI test is better than just a PSA. It
includes
PSA, but also some other stuff that may help differentiate cancer from benign causes a little bit better. It's cheap and covered by insurance. Because you already had a previous negative biopsy, your insurance should cover a PCA3 urine test too (after a prostate massage).
If suspicion remains after those biochemical tests, you can request a multiparametric MRI, which can find suspicious areas in the prostate to be biopsied in another biopsy. Hopefully, you won't have to go through that.

The doctor that did my biopsy, did mention that I had a small prostate, if that's any help. I go back to the doctor on Monday, to see what recommendation he makes. I have a better understanding of what options I have. I want to thank you all and truly appreciate it .

Your small prostate rules out BPH as a cause. If your doctor doesn't know how to order a PHI test, and he may not, pass the following link to him:
