Finally got my blood work results back today. PSA came down from 5.1 to 3.5. Also had the free PSA checked this time and it was 15.7. I'm assuming this is basically borderline between high risk and moderate risk. Went ahead and had PCP refer me to a urologist. Got an appointment February 3 with Dr. Daniel Rukstalis, Wake Forest Urology. So does anyone know anything about him? Thanks!

wake forest baptist is one of the top cancer hospitals in north carolina.i am sure this guy is a good urologist.if you desire a 2nd opinion check out dr. craig hall in high point.he is one of the best around.

Thanks Micky! I have a couple of friends who had their prostate surgery at Wake Forest and they did well. Just hadn't heard of this particular doctor.

Congrats on the PSA drop! You'll need to get your uro's opinion, but the fact that it dropped so much so quickly seems that the chances are you had an infection. It will be interesting to get his opinion on your free PSA number--I'd guess that the PSA drop trumps that number, but I'm no doctor. (BTW, your free PSA is in a middle range. Mine was 2% when I was diagnosed.)

I agree with Michael_T that a free psa of 15 is moderate risk. I think that high risk is 10 or lower.
