psa today 1.40 0.01 3 months back. VA uro wants psa in one month c 11 if 2.? .. Have pain in left hip about 15 days now x ray that before I left hospital know more on that in 2 days doc does not want me to do any HT last 6 mo. shot 20 mo. back don,t know what to do next

Good idea to get a PSA in a month to confirm that it is that high. If so, your doctor may order a bone scan/CT.

HAY TA I sent my slides to the big E had a tert 5 E says more than 5% the 3 turns to 5 --- thank you for getting back to me I have questions -- do you think thats a fast and high jump for 90 days? VA lab never had any other...I am in CALIF. east of reading bout 150 mi I know you are in lower calif. doc is wanting me to get one of the new scans can you guide me to closest lowest cost close to me I am open to whole state have a place to stay in Texas.and Kansas TA you advised me about a year and a half back I DID NOT NEED A onc. yet I think you were right what do you think now?? My VA doc says no more HT I like the idea but not to many 9,s hanging around without it My heart did not like the first shot took doc 5 mo. to get it to beat right again do they have a HT class drug that is easy on the ticker??? doc told me HT effects the brain to drop (t) ????

Yes, that is a big jump in PSA in the last 3 months. If that is confirmed next month, it is time to switch your care over to a medical oncologist. Some of the best medical oncologists in the world are right there in Northern California. At Stanford, Sandy Srinivas would be a good choice. At UCSF, Eric Small or Peter Carroll are both well known.

Coincidentally, both Stanford and UCSF are at the leading edge of investigation of new PET/MRIs. So, if your PSA rise is confirmed, I suggest you see a medical oncologist there first, and then let him or her advise you on which PET scan, if any, is worth having.

TA thanks for comeback you probably know I am re scared what do you know about HT affecting brain over balls? should I save questions on heart friendly HT for new doc.? The HT worked well on my pc I did not like living life in quarters,but nothing to look forward to now PCa is like wiping your butt with a hula hoop that s#%t just keeps coming back around and arou.... thanks NEPOL

There are lots of equivocal studies about HT effects on the mind and the heart. It probably varies a lot from person to person. All good subjects to discuss with the doctor.

WWell TA i know i am not good at getting my thoughts right on paper my doc said HT tells your brain to tell your body not to make (T) ht does not act directly on the producers maybe I should post this on a new thread and let the whole HW brain trust have a shot at it I will ask new doc when I get one will post when I get answer good day to all NEPOL

Lupron, and drugs like it, send a signal to the pituitary gland in the brain. The upshot of it is that the testicular production of testosterone gets shut down. They give a shot that lasts for 1,3,4 or 6 months at a time. There are other kinds of hormone therapy that do different things. Casodex, for example, blocks testosterone from getting into prostate cancer cells where it would otherwise stimulate them.

Well I knew i was not getting my question across right--TA.. once again you have nailed it don't know how you put up with people like me but glad you do VA called have both scans you mentioned lined for Feb.1st in Reno spend the night 1 scan Feb. 2nd 6 am. don't know how long to get results Iwill post when they come in.....THANKS.---..NEPOL
