Doctors are people too. We hold them to a higher standard, and rightfully so. However, some aren't as good as others, or make mistakes. Failure to alert a patient to possible changes in their health is negligence.
In my case, the first time my PSA rose above the "normal" range, he sent me to the urologist. Otherwise, I felt fine and no other symptoms. But I did have cancer, and am glad my internist referred me on.
Look, as soon as a doctor knows or suspects something, his job is to inform the patient. That's his job.
