Well, after 4 1/2 years of undetectable results, I am now at 0.12! Last June it was 0.06, then in December it came back at 0.1. I wasn't convinced that my PCP did a ultra sensitive test so I had one done at the hospital where I had my surgery.

Dr. Patel's office wants me to retest in 6 weeks to see if it is continuing to rise.

Not the news I wanted to hear but it is what it is.

Mac, sorry to hear this. you would think after 4 1/2 years you would be safe, but i guess we are never safe. Well, i guess at least if it does turn out to be something, i would think that its not real aggressive.
Lets hope for a positive surprise for you in 6 weeks.

For the past three MO visits/PSA tests my MO has advised me to be prepared to start HT. Previous visit my PSA was 1.9 and he said if jumps again, we'll start HT. Last week it had jumped to 2.7 and I had psyched myself up (again) to start HT. Instead, he said we'll test again in two months; if the PSA jumps again, we'll do the scans again and start HT. Then he said there was a chance the PSA could go down. When I looked at him like he was full of ****, he said, “I'm not blowing smoke up your ***.” He also always does a DRE on my visits. Every time, he says he can feel leftover tissue that feels like it could be cancerous, so it may still be localized. When I look at him like he's full of ****, he says, “I'm not blowing smoke up your ***.” Well, okay, whatever. I guess it's something to hope for, but I'm not betting all my marbles on it. I like and trust the guy, and he's been one of “Americas Best Doctors” several times (whatever that means). I always feel better when I leave his office.

Thanks for your comment.

Dr. Patel gave me a 20% chance of recurrence within 10 years of my surgery. He said the tumor was large and I had 2 positive margins.
I was told it could be some residue floating around and they want to see if the PSA doubles quickly.

My 4 year post surgical PSA is <0.006. I'm still on 6 month checks.

Frankly, this has been a lousy month for many of us.

I think I'll start the March tests thread now

I just got my 8 year PSA test result as 0.01. the nurse didn't indicate if there was a "<" sign infront of the result so I'll have to see when I see the doctor on Monday. Previously I used to have the "<" sign and two zeroes after the decimal point. Should I worry?
