Been having GI issues -- not a great day today

Ok, since mid-December I have been having huge problems with ...constipation. I know, you can insert jokes here, but it has been miserable. A few weeks ago, my family doctor took x-rays (flat screen). It came back as a possible blockage/obstruction. He said if it got worse, go to the ER. Well, that's where I went a few days later. They took "better x-rays." The result: no indication of any issues. So, they had me drink magnesium citrate, since no blockage showed. That worked well, but then the problems have continued. The stool softeners and daily miralax have resulted in nothing (except twice, an "accident" with a slight amount of liquid suddenly appearing).

Fast forward to today. I had my appointment with Dr. Lam. They draw blood and then usually I get my PSA that day. Not today. Lab person was out. So, I'll have to wait until Monday. He then said he thought this intestinal thing could well be due to adhesions as a result of my SRT radiation and/or gall bladder surgery 5 years ago. Regardless, he really didn't think I should do my planned SBRT to my one hot lymph node. But I remember Dr. King indicating that the node was in an ideal spot and the SBRT should not cause any GI (or other) issues. Dr. Lam also made an appointment for me with a GI guy out here (I have one in Michigan, but I am not pleased with the care she renders).
I was crestfallen, to say the least.
But, then I called Dr. King and he did NOT feel there would be any problem with the SBRT.

So, I am going ahead with it.

I am still having a good time here, escaping the Michigan cold and visiting with my daughter.

Dr. Lam will call me with results on Monday.

It is sad that this d-disease has to be so invasive.

Has anyone else here had issues with adhesions?

Hey Mel,
Gary having GI issue off and on too, not constipation, but gastric pain just the same. I have him on daily stool softener too. For me, it seems a few extra vitamin C tabs work better than softener. Go figure. I'm glad your getting that node zapped. Hope you feel better soon. No jokes. It's really not all that fun or funny.

Hang in there Mel. If you've let Dr. King know about the issue and he gives his blessing still then go for it. Good luck and enjoy the warmth. I am in Ann Arbor this weekend and yes, It is miserablely cold.

Mel, No mention of fiber? I have found Mucinex gave me gas pains, Konsyl good but maybe too much bulk, I settled on Citrucel mostly because it seamed least gas generating during SRT. -Ken

Just a thought prune juice sometimes helps and it certainly can't hurt ,hopefully someone will come up with the right combination to get you going again

reference sbrt...whose opinion do you value most Lam or King...can you find out from other sources if there are any legs to Lam's concern...Lam has no dog in the "fight" ...why would he say that...lack of knowledge ...in that he is not a rad onc?...Im not sure I would brush him off that quick...but you know them both...but to shut your eyes and jump in and hope is very uncharacteristic of you...if...in truth you are doing that...I sense you are so fed up with this disease...you may be saying...oh what the heck...lets do it and let the chips fall where they may...may be wise...or not....good luck and good health to whatever you do... Ps when Doctoer King mentioned the node being in a perfect spot...I am rightly going to say this statement was before current...GI...issues.... you do not need to grasp at something from a before the after...if the after is germane...my opinion is that it is...but...whadda I know...I think you are following me on this...If I am wrong that is great...I only suggest you lstudy my logic honestly and not to fool yourself haphaszrdly
