Well, testosterone in a prostate cancer setting is quite a complex situation, but you may not have to deal with either yet.

With respect to your testosterone level, although the number itself may be lower than the lab's scale, the clinical criteria for treatment for low testosterone are based upon both the test reading and the absence or presence of symptoms. If you have a low number but have no symptoms, then that low number may be just fine for your body. The ranges used by the labs are averages of many, many patients. Some are just fine at levels well below the "minimum" while others are painfully symptomatic at levels well into the "normal" range. If you have no symptoms now, I wouldn't take it any farther unless other problems crop up.

I am not aware of any cause-and-effect linkage between high or low testosterone and prostate cancer. I don't believe that either higher or lower testosterone affects one man's risk of developing prostate cancer. There are probably others here who know more specifics, and they will probably be here soon.

I would, however, stay after the PSA issue.

One other consideration -- if you do choose to start T supplements, know that it really is NOT a supplement. Shortly after you start with external T, your body will stop producing T internally. It will sense that there is already enough available and stop producing more. If you later choose to stop the replacement therapy, your body may or may not re-start.

This is why most docs, when prescribing T replacement, will caution the patient that this is a lifelong therapy. When PCa joins in, things get complicated, but that's for a future time, if needed.
