Hi all,
My dad was diagnosed in 2010 with gleason 8, PSA 9, stage 3, and got a radical prostatectomy. Negative margins, no lymph node or seminal vesicle involvement and cancer was still within the capsule.
His PSA didn't fall to undetectable after the RP so he was given radiation in the prostate bed for 42 sessions and was also on Lupron for 3 years. PSA went down to undetectable during this time and he stopped Lupron in 2013. Since then he hasn't been on any treatment.
In October 2016 his PSA rose to 1.02 but doc decided to wait and did nothing. Now in January 2017, a bone met has been detected on T6 on his spine, discovered after he experienced extreme back pain. The cancer is back and has metastasised to his bone. We still don't know if there's soft tissue/lymph nodes/seminal vesicle involvement or not.
Now he is on casodex and will be getting his lupron injection at the end of the week. We have an appointment with the oncologist next week to discuss radiation treatment.
My question is, does anyone have advice on treatment options etc? Does this sound like an OK plan so far? Any drugs/treatments/questions to keep in mind? Just anything at all would be so helpful!
Also, recommendations for specialists/oncologists in the Toronto/GTA/Brampton/Etobicoke/Mississauga area would be appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance. I am a new poster but have been reading these boards for a while. So may great people with so much information to share and it's been a lifeline for us!
