If it were me....I'd want to make sure the reasoning was due to cancer.

Lonewolf, I also was diagnosed with Pca in the VA confirmed with a Biopsy in Oct 2016, When the Urologist told me that he wanted to do Surgery as i was a 3+3 also, i said to let me see the Oncologist who was the head of Urology. When we talked he said i was not a candidate for AS anymore as i have been since a Biopsy back in 2010 that came back inconclusive. and my PSA raised tremendously recently. Since i am 57 and have had a history of an enlarged Prostate since 2003 and was having ED problems i decided to have Surgery and in Dec 2016 i had open surgery to remove it. (Not thru VA but thru the Choice program). they found upon the biopsy i was a 4+3 GS 7 so i am glad i did. But for your age please be very cautious on jumping into Surgery for removal as it can really change your life sexually and emotionally. If you are married talk openly with your wife or significant other and read up on what all of the options available to you are with the risks and side effects. You have plenty of time to make a decision and whatever your decision is, it will be the right one for you and dont ever 2nd guess yourself as you made the right move.
