Good news -- skiing already

My husband is downhill skiing this week at 11.5 weeks post-op RP. He's a happy guy. He's pacing himself, only skiing half-days, but I'm pretty sure he could go full days if he hadn't promised me to be sensible.

Why bother to share this news? I thought it might be helpful for those who are still in the waiting game or still in the immediate post-op phase. 11.5 weeks ago skiing at all this winter seemed highly unlikely. He had some complications from surgery and the first 3-4 weeks were grim.

Time goes quickly ... and he's proof that a the outcome can be much better than anticipated.

Hi northerner, I am also an anxious wife who doing research for my husband. Do you mind to share your husband's story? My husband will be having MRI and fusion biopsy in two weeks. If he finds PCa, we will consider having surgery too, only he is two years older than yours. It's very encouraging to hear a successful story. Thank you in advance!

That is a nice story. You should share more of your husband's surgical story. I had surgery in Oct., and a couple of complications which made my first 3 weeks after the operation challenging.

I'm doing fine now, and glad your husband is doing the same.

I'm a ski instructor and I managed to ski just 4 weeks after surgery - a bit before my docs wanted me out there. I remember being in the locker room the morning I was back, thinking that I'd be fine as long as I didn't fall. I picked an intermediate groomed run for a warm-up, and promptly fell.

But, no harm and I continued right onto advanced terrain that day.

I'm glad things are going well.
