My husband was diagnosed in December 2017, started Lupron and Casodex the beginning of January. Is now only on Lupron. He just had his fourth Taxotere treatment. So far, he's been doing really well. His WBC dropped quite low on his first round. To avoid getting a Nualesta injection, the oncologist worked with him to adjust his dosage. Second dose was 20% reduction, third and fourth at 10% reduction. He has had some hair loss, his taste fades about
the first week (says it's like when you burn your tongue and everything just tastes faintly like it should) but taste usually returns by the 2nd week, no neuropathy but he sucks on ice through his treatments and holds on to ice cold coke cans (he's a guitar player so we've been taking precautions), little to no nausea. He's a got an office job and can work from home when he needs to. And his band is still gigging and he goes to band practice.
On Saturday, two days after his fourth treatment he even put up two ceiling fans!
He exercises daily on the elipitical - seems to help with chemo fog and gives him a brief burst of energy - and does much better than I would if I was in his position! I'm very proud of him! He hasn't really changed his eating habits except to make sure to eat more protein than he did before (we try to eat low carb and have for two years) to help with muscle loss. He takes a multi-vitamin, b12, and calcium with vitamin D.
One tip is to stay well hydrated. He drinks at least 64+ ounces of water each day but a little more on the days just before treatment and after to help flush the chemicals out of his system.
His current PSA is 0.78.
