Thank you everyone for your helpful and heartfelt responses. Spring is finally upon us here in the soggy Northwest, long evenings and lots of outdoor work to do...
I wanted to follow up with you individually:
@ISU-CycloneFan, Thank you! I'll take a look at your website. Best wishes to you as well. Facing forward is how we are both living our lives :-D
@gmoose2, Thank you for your perspective. Steve had his radiation and did not get relief from the pain, but he noticed that his next Zometa infusion did not ratchet up the pain as it has in the past, so we think he did get some overall benefit from the treatment. The radiation targeted an area of many lesions in the spine, but not the sacroiliac area which is where his MO thought might be the origin of his pain. We are going to get a follow-up appt. with the RO and talk about
this. Steve is still dealing with intense fatigue from the treatment but it seems to be diminishing a bit.
@Beth, thank you for your words of encouragement! How was your trip to Yosemite? Steve and I went there for his 60th birthday in 2015-- he is a Florida boy and had never been there. I grew up in California and spent much of my youth in Yosemite so it was very special for me to share that magic... may I even say holy?... place with him. Best to you and Gary.
@Allen, Thank you for Dr. Higano's name. Right now Steve doesn't want to talk to another doc but I am going to work in the direction of trying to get a consult with her. I am trying to be as proactive as I can and still respect Steve's gut feeling about
what's right for him. Our MO is terrific and we have a great rapport with him, but at some point we will need to look farther afield for more intensive treatments and SCCA is the place for that.
