As you may recall I had my surgery last Tuesday the 11th.
Well I remove my catheter Wed morning any suggestions as to what supplies I will need to start as far as pads, pull-ups or whatever else I might need my first few days. My wife going to run to the mart and stock up.

To start, use adult diapers with pads.
This will prevent possible bad accidents.
Plus, you wear the diaper all day at work and only have to change the pad.
It's a lot easier to conceal. smile

Once you have your leakage rate figured out, then you can modify as needed/desired.

BTW - Depends briefs work best for me. For pads or shields, it really doesn't matter the brand.

If you get the one's labeled "briefs" (must be Depends) they look a heck of a lot better than those baggie things.

Ditto on Depends and pads. I've found the Wal-Green house brand pads work best for me (52 count for $11.99).

I'm active and drink a lot of water. I go through 10-15 pads daily and 2-4 Depends.

All suggestions help, I know it's a wild guess as to how much or if any I will need. Just want to be prepared. I am still a little nervous about removing my catheter myself. Although it was real easy in the class they had while still in the hospital. Just don't want to yank on and pull everything I got out. Of course after being on lupron for 6 months it could use the stretching. 😬

Psychologically, it can be problematic to stock up too much leakage protection stuff. Your mind builds up an expectation that you will leak that can become self-fulfilling. I recommend wait and see what will be needed.

Depends Briefs, and Pads. I didn't wear them at the same time, it was one, or the other. I've only had 2 accidents with pads, both were my fault. I tried the CVS brand pads and like the Depends branded better.

Eventually you will use Guards, again, I use depends.

I bought mine off of Amazon once I saw the volume I needed. I had no psychological issues with stocking up.

I started with the house brand of heavy pads (didn't buy briefs, and never needed them), and gradually moved to shields that I wear some of the time, but rarely need (2 years + later). I think I wore pads 24/7 for about 2 weeks.

Be prepared, but hopefully you won't need any. I brought Depends to the urologist to get the catheter removed, and had a towel place on the seat of my wife's Lexus to sit on. Luckily, I was dry when I had my catheter removed, only had stress incontinence which improved with time.

I went all out and got pads for the bed and depends underwear and also got some Depends Guards. I never used the bed pads and went thru 2 depends underwear and 1 depends Guards. I still have a package of Underwear under the sink for if we go traveling and also have 2 new packages of Depends Guards for those times when i think i will need them. I was going thru 2 diapers or 6 guards a day for about 1 month and then it was like BAMB it stopped. now just for maintenance. I picked up the Guards instead of pads due to they fit better and didnt go up the backside like the pads did.

Exactly. We stocked up with all kinds of stuff expecting worst case scenario and wound up giving almost all of it away. I was fairly dry as soon as the cath came out.
