I have been diagnosed with PC (PSA 4.6, Gleason 4+3). Had RP March 24th. 1 week after RP had a lymphocele (accumulation of lymphatic liquid due to removal of lymph nodes - I had 28 removed, all clean).
My doctor said I can do some self lymph drainage massage and go to a professional massage centre after I came back from vacation.. nothing urgent! Even though I had pains in my left leg shooting all the way back to my sciatic nerve, totally preventing me from walking and the pain was unbearable.
3 weeks later, an infection had built up to a life threatening condition at which stage I was rushed to hospital emergency room, operated under full anesthesia, had lots of infected liquid out, a catether inserted and 2 weeks in hospital till all the crap came out and drainage was down to zero and infection gone.
This second doctor who operated me for the infection said massage was the worst thing one can do.. only spreading the infection all around the body.
Clearly it was poor competence on the part of the first doctor. Massage?? Go on holiday no problems.. only 2 weeks after a major surgery?? I said I had a fever and he couldn't make the connection to a possible infection which very likely in the case of a lymphocele??
The second doctor said once a lymphocele is gone, it's gone, with 5% chance of recurrence. He checked 10 days after I left hospital, via sonography on the pelvic area, and there was no more accumulation of liquid. I am hoping that means the end of it.
Any experiences to share on lymphocele?
Well, there you have it.. my experience.. hope it can be helpful.

Hello, and I am sorry to hear about
your terrible experience. Also I am sorry that I have no particular experience that I can impart - other than the fact that I have prostate cancer and my wife is a lymphoma survivor - that might shed some light on your condition.
But coincidentally, just this morning my wife and I were talking about
how doctors tend to wait until they can bring you back from the edge of death rather than treat some small problem early on that you point out to them. It comes down to the fact that doctors see thousands of patients every year and see terrible things every day, so they view all our little problems as "normal".
We on the other hand, have very little experience with just about
anything that is going to afflict us. And when we do, it is very personal and in our eyes rather serious. So when we have some little abnormality a doctor is likely to say "take two aspirin and call me in the morning"... or in your case, just massage it. When it eventually develops into a serious, life threatening condition, then suddenly they know how to treat it.
I've even been asked, when I've finally found a doctor who has seen this before, "why didn't you do something about
this sooner" (!!!)

My husband had lymphoceles even though only 12 nodes were removed.
Interesting that you had so many nodes removed given that your PSA and GS are not extreme. Our hospital refused to do an extended dissection despite my husband's extremely high risk. I remain very upset by this, especially because 2 nodes were noted to appear suspicious intraoperatively so the risk of more malignant nodes in the extended fields was greater.
Do you mind if I ask what kind of cancer center you are at? Is it one of the major ones?

I live in Switzerland and was treated in a private specialized clinic here.
