Not really the news I wanted to get psa came back at 0.13 go again in 4 weeks for MRI and psa check and then discuss treatments?

Hi for some reason my stats won't display on bottom tried a couple of times. I had divinici surgery March 8 35 lymph nodes removed both seminal vessels and one of the nerves. Gleason score 9 first psa check today 0.13 I was hoping I would be 00000000000..

sorry to hear the number didn't turn out as you wanted.

and yeah, MRI, retest, talk to doc. That's the procedure from here.

Still, I think the doc can come up with a treatment plan.

Good Morning YK, sounds like yours and mine cancer were just about identical. both diagnosed at same age I'm wondering what did the salvage radiation consist of how long, how much did it knock you down, sounds like it worked for you! Great! I go back in a month for mri and psa check. then decide from there wondering about ART or ESRT? any thots? Thanks Larry

Sky - that is a higher number than you were hoping to see for sure.

As you've seen, salvage radiation can be quite helpful.

For others visiting this thread, here's what skypilot56 posted about his situation back in April (Gleason 9 survival?):

Skypilot-

You also have to check the box that says "Include signature" when you do each post.

The radiation usually involves 35 treatments (5 days a week for 7 weeks). Is your appointment with a radiation oncologist?

Tall Allen thanks I'll try that again. Right now it is just scheduled with Dr. Boorjian my urologist and surgeon although he told me yesterday he would also have a radiation team if we decided to go that way. We talked about early salvage radiation therapy, adt, and wait and see approach? I was suppose to buy a different airplane today but after yesterday's psa number have been having second thoughts yet I'm not ready to quit doing any of the things I like doing. I'm sure all of you guys that are on here have had the same thoughts

Why wouldn't you buy the plane? You still have every hope of a cure, and if not, you can live with PC for a very long time - median survival after failed RP is over 15 years. (no one really knows how long with all the new medicines)

Hey Pilot, I'm a G-9, had persistent PSA after surgery, did radiation which looked good for 2 years then my PSA returned. Went on ADT (Lupron) back to undetectable for two more years, then Zytiga, going on 2 more years...So since I was diagnosed a G-9 and the surgery failed, I'v lived a semi-normal life for 8 years and I'm still going strong.. Buy the plane......

After the 3rd PSA elevated...I opted to SRT > target @ prostate bed, suggested by Radiologist & also from the "elites" info I gather from this forum. It was a 33 session IGRT therapy. There are many helpful knowledgeable elite members @ this forum, don't be shy to ask.

Skypilot, My husband (also Gleason 9) had persistent PSA (10.0 after RP), had failed salvage radiation, rising PSA after Lupron, and is still living (mostly) the same life he's always lived. We're 3 years in with some changes to quality of life, but nothing he hasn't adjusted to. Live your life just as you would if you hadn't been diagnosed. Chances are good that little will change, at least for a while.

So happy to read that you bought the plane, right now its hard to take everything in and feeling deflated is completely normal BUT take solace in all the posts of encouragement from the vets here, don't let this change your life unless its going to be for the better! I cant chime in on the treatment options but wanted to stop by with encouragement!
