Since Dan's treatments stopped at the end of May, we along with family members were able to take a week-long Alaskan cruise, and he was able to play a couple weeks of golf; but his condition deteriorated rapidly in the past two weeks. He began having shoulder pain which his MO attributed to golf, so he eventually got an xray which showed nothing. I read that liver mets could cause nerve pain in the right shoulder, and we went to a palliative care dr on Friday. She put him on morphine and oxy and recommended hospice or at least home care. Dan had planned to go on a golf trip the next day if he could be pain free, so he wasn't ready to accept that these were his only options. His feet and legs began swelling pretty badly and I was worried about
him, so I called for a home care nurse on Monday. The nurse came out on Tuesday and was also concerned about
his condition and recommended hospice. We made an appointment for the next morning at 11, but after a really rough night, Dan passed away Wednesday morning before she got here. He put up a good fight and was able to see our daughter graduate from college, take his Alaskan cruise and play lots of golf. And we were able to love on him for a year and a half and for that we're thankful. I can't see my life without him, but I'm glad he can finally rest. It was a tough 18 months for him and everyone that loved him. Your support and advice has been invaluable. Thank you - thank you - thank you.
