My husband's last injection, 2-months ago, was nearly doubled?

No direct information. But a quick check shows something interesting.

Here's a thread from 2014, not so very long ago (4 month Lupron billed at $1084, post by Compiler, so probably U of Mich):

So, good question I guess. IIRC, my injections ran around $3500 for a 6 month or 4 month shot, from early May 2013 through Nov 2016.

Jump'n Jimney...now I am going to have to double-check the benefits statement again. I thought I was sure that the insurance was being charged/paying ~13k for each 3-month shot. The last one in May was billed at 23K!

I had better double check. My husband just only told me of this yesterday and didn't check into it...but I sure will. ;-)

I'll post an update when I'm positive of the figures.

Edit to add: Hubby just me a statement from 08/2016, the Leuprolide acetate was billed at $17,811.05.

The billed amount doesn't matter. Look at the EOB form you receive to see why the insurance paid.

You're right, Jack. There's sometimes a large discrepancy between the charged amount and the insurance-negotiated amount

I looked up the last time I was billed for a 4 month Lupron shot in Nov 2015. For the shot itself, U of M billed as Hospital Outpatient Services $3,869.00. Blue Cross negotiated it down by $1,298.92. So, actual to be paid was $2570.08.

The entire drug pricing system is a criminal racket..Everybody pays a different price !! If it's a "Cancer Drug" the skies the limit even though it doesn't work very well or causes devastating side-effects..

The pharmaceutical and healthcare systems are a financial extortion racket. senators and congress critters get the best healthcare for themselves and family members for life, paid for by the taxpayers. check out big pharma expenses, research versus sales and marketing, plus research funded with tax dollars...exploding head emoticon here....
