Side effects of prostrate biopsy

I had my MRI last week and thankfully that was clear. My PSA levels were 4.7, and as I am 67, the doctor felt I should undergo a prostrate biopsy.
That was on Tuesday, three days ago, and following that was I weeing a lot of blood. the following day not so much and now has mostly disappeared.
Today i ejaculated for the first time, and expected to see some blood, but did not expect to see practically all blood, and also experience intense pain at the same time which lasted a couple of minutes.
My question is - should I be ejaculating often to 'clear the system' and should the pain go away. Alternatively, should I not be ejaculating to give it a time to 'settle down' it that is the right term!

I'd appreciate any comments from anyone who may have experienced this themselves.

Well, that sounds like as good an excuse as any for ejaculating often: to clear the system. I don't remember being given any cautions about when to start back or how often. It may remain bloody for a while, no matter what you do.

I had a recent prostate biopsy. I had only small amounts of blood, hardly any, on urinating that went away after about a week or two. I ejaculated first about 4 days after the biopsy and was essentially all blood visually but I did not have any pain. Blood in the ejaculate lasted for probably 6 weeks or so slowly reducing and appearing a reddish brown till finally going away. I do not recall that my Urologist cautioned me about any pain but he did mention the blood and approximate time it should go away and that is normal. If you continue to have significant pain on ejaculating I suggest to call your Urologist to get his comments.

Tapyeno: Likewise I had bright red blood mixed in the semen but none in urine. about 2nd or 3rd time over 7-10 days it turned reddish brown then to brown at about a month and then began to get more clear but still some darkness to it at 2 months. A little pain the first few times but that was it.
