SBRT at Mayo Rochester

Greetings! I was diagnosed this spring with low volume Gleason 6 and have been researching my options. Since my PSA was 13.1, I am more inclined to treat than go with AS. I am most interested in SBRT and based on what I know and interviewing an RO locally, i am a suitable candidate. Although there are two Cyberknives in town, neither is currently doing prostates. One is new and hasn't gotten there yet, although they plan to. The other has been doing prostates but the RO that does them has just left. I am in the Twin Cities so Mayo is just down the road.

Anyone here have experience with Mayo for SBRT? What physician(s) did you use and what protocols are they running? The RO that I saw is going to get me some names, but I thought I would ask here as well. We have some familiarity with Mayo as my wife did her residency there, but that was some time ago.

Thanks TA. If they don't offer it as primary mono therapy, I may need to make the pilgrimage out to UCLA. Just as easy to go there if I need to travel. My local oncology group just hired a new RO from Mayo, but his specialty is brachytherapy. My RO was going to ask him who I should see there for SBRT. I am kind of surprised how slowly SBRT has diffused out of the academic centers, given that the platforms are otherwise available in community facilities.

Thanks! I appreciate the offer. We will see what happens with Mayo and then reassess. If I have to go anywhere else for SBRT, going to UCLA would give me an excuse to visit my sister. She is a physician and professor at UCLA, but in anesthesiology. When I told her about my diagnosis and the possibility of surgery, she referred to prostatectomy as "non-trivial" surgery. Of course, since she is making that assessment from the perspective of someone whose primary line of work is liver transplants, it was enough to give me pause.
