After finishing SRT in early September, I got my first post-radiation PSA test result today. It was <.008. The sound you hear is restrained celebration. I had RRP in Sept. 2016. After an initial non-detectable PSA reading I then had two tests showing a rising PSA, up to .05 in June 2017. Then, off to radiation. Radiation itself was amazingly uneventful with no major side effects. I began leaking a little bit, but otherwise cool.
Now, I wonder how exactly to interpret the latest undetectable PSA reading. Tell me if this is right or wrong. Since the radiation killed cancer cells only in the prostate bed, and the PSA has dropped, then it is likely or possible that the cancer cells producing the PSA were limited to the prostate bed. If PSA was coming from cancer cells in my shoulder, for example, the radiation would have had no impact on the PSA level, or at least a smaller impact.
