The spouse of a friend of my wife saw Dr David Samadi and had planned to schedule surgery with him. When he called them, he was told that unfortunately Dr Samadi doesn't accept Medicare. What? How does a (volume) surgeon in prostate cancer not accept Medicare, and stay in business?
I wonder if it has to do with this investigation, which has been mentioned before...
/www.fiercehealthcare.com/practices/surgeon-david-samadi-federal-investigation-billing-concurrent-surgeries Curious if anyone else has come across this with Samadi recently.
Also, my son in law had thyroid surgery today at Lenox Hill, the hospital where Samadi practices. After the recovery room, he was told that a room was available and he'd be taken upstairs. He was promptly taken up to the 5th floor, which is a concierge wing, that I believe, is reserved or was built, for Samadi patients. The room, and service were pretty incredible. It was like a hotel. They presented him with a menu for dinner, and he chose lobster ravioli. đł There is usually a waitlist for those rooms, and it costs serious money outside of insurance. But I guess there were
open rooms there but nothing available in the regular semi private rooms in the hospital, so they sent him up there. At the nurses station, which was more like a reception desk at a hotel, there were many pictures, plaques, awards and article reprints of Samadi.
So that's another curious thing to me...that there were empty rooms on that floor.
