I would have been quick to answer this question by pointing out that in this modern age of doing virtually all searching by computer, that the difference in spelling between "prostate" and "prostrate" would result in vast amounts of missed information, should one do searching using the wrong spelling.
Now I'm not so sure. I just googled "prostate cancer" and of course got a zillion hits. But then when I googled "prostrate cancer," instead of getting just a handful of hits with the obvious mispeiling, what Google did was to ask me "Do you really mean prostate cancer?" and then essentially give me those zillion hits a second time. So thanks to AI, maybe even misspellings don't matter any more.
But, yes, it can be frustrating, not to mention rather amusing at times, when an otherwise responsible article on the subject of PCa makes a big-time goof and misspells "prostate" all the way through the article.
To wit the following article, for example, which you may find as amusing as I did for that very reason:
mynewyorkminute.org/On a continued lighter note, I believe I once posted the following in some thread here as a point of humor re prostate vs. prostrate. Worth another look (and chuckle) I guess:
