Smara , some doctors might recommend radiation a few months after the surgery especially IF there were positive margins.
But if margins were negative, I would not rush to radiation if PSA is undetectable. However you should be very watchful and be ready to act as soon as PSA starts trending up.
If it were me, I would ask the dr to test at a lab with a more sensitive test. The one he uses cannot detect below .05. There are tests today that can detec down to .006, which is basically zero.

As to the question of why the doctor did not recommend further treatment at this time. Part of it is that he needs to wait until he heals inside. However, the American Urologic Association recommends adjuvant radiation for prostate cancer surgery patients with high risk pathology, regardless of their psa. But this is hotly debated. Some say that you can wait for the psa to to rise, and if it's caught before it goes very high, there is no disadvantage to waiting. For now, however, there is nothing to do but wait and check psa, and be happy that it is undetectable.

Smara, how is he doing with the recovery from surgery? Is he continent? How about
sexual function? Encourage him to walk a lot, it helps.

Can somone please explain me the Sloan Kettering nomogram?
It shows you the chance of PSA to return after surgery? as time passes the risk is higher of coming back?
