rise psa 1.1 to 1.8 nodule felt

Doctor felt a nodule. PSA has been 1.1 for years now 1.8. Urologist says rise over .75 is of concern however he did feel hard nodule on one side and sending me for scan and biopsy.
Lots of information out there and can be confusing for example, one treatment is to remove prostate early when cancer has not spread which does makes sense.
No one in my family has PC. I'm 67.
Hard to find people whom had similar symtoms to compare.
Of course very nervous and think the worst.
Please reply with any information and/ or advive

Hello Hostle and welcome. First of all your PSA level is well within normal range for your age. And, if this was a sharp rise is a short period of time that is more typical of an infection than prostate cancer. The nodule is a bit troubling but there are other answers besides cancer and your biopsy will tell you for sure.

We understand your nervousness but try to relax as best you can and understand that there is still a good chance you do not have cancer. When your biopsy results come back please post them here in detail and we will help you thru this.

not all nodules are PC. They'll need to do a biopsy to determine that.

If it is PC, then you have tons of treatment options, surgery, radiation (in a number of forms) and more for advanced cases.

Read the sticky threads at the top of the forum for more information. The best thing you can do is to learn all you can and take this a step at a time. Right now you don't know what you have other than a reason to get more tests. When you have a diagnosis, then you need to think about treatments.

Even if the worst is true, you'll have plenty of options and every reason to hope for a positive outcome,

Thank you, I forgot to mention during the summer I had rose color blood in the beginning of urination which was sporadic and disappeared after a few days. It started to happen again last and disappeared.
At least the past 20 years I have had microscopic blood in my urine. The urologist did suspect an infection till he did his exam and felt the nodule. He tested the blood in the office and said there seems to be a lot of blood microscopic. He said when he did the exam had I felt burning pain \in my penis and had the urge to pee would have been another indication it is an infection, I did not feel that.
Other symptoms are waking up a few times a night to urinate.
Seems to be mixed symptoms.

Welcome. You have found the best place to help ease your fears. Its a very confusing disease, with a bunch of different treatments. But first, take a deep breath and relax. Prostate cancer does not usually present with symptoms, but the nodule may be a concern. Your PSA is low, so as the urologist suggested, next step is scan and biopsy. As IntheShop said, first things first and one step at a time. Find out what's causing the issues, then deal with them. Read up. Research. Ask questions because you need to be your own best advocate. There are a lot of very knowledgable people here and I'm sure more will be along to offer their thoughts.

I pee a lot at night and have microscopic blood with no prostate!

It seems as if for years .... as long as memory serves.....anytime I've gone to the doctor for any reason...there's been microscopic blood. My mom's had it many times as well through the years. No diagnosis has ever been made on either of us. If I had a urine sample that came back with no blood...at this point...I'd worry.

I've also had gross bleeding at times. (Enough to freak a man out). They checked my bladder for cancer ... then chalked it up to kidney stones.

One man's nodule is another man's normal. DRE's can be subjective.

hey hostel......i remembered that wrong. My mom had gross hematuria....not microscopic. But....like I said.....she was never diagnosed with anything. That's been 20 years ago. She's 89 now.
