I had my four month oncology appointment yesterday. Standard procedure, draw blood, lookee lookee pokey pokey Feely Feely listen listen. All said and done everything looks feels and sounds normal. All that remained was the dreaded PSA test results. The lab must’ve been busy it took until this morning to get the test results back. This morning over morning coffee I looked up the test results and once again my PSA level is less than 0.01 April 1, I will start month 56 on Zytiga.
In other news, I have to have some dental work done. I need a dental implant. Therefore I had to forgo my Zometa infusion last night. I am not a super genius like tall Allen but it is my understanding that Zometa works by stopping old bone from being absorbed into the body. This causes the bones to strengthen. This can be extremely bad when you need to have a dental implant or any other dental work requiring bone access. In order to have dental work done you must be off of the Zometa for 4 months prior and four months after. If I had known I was going to live so long I would’ve taken better care of my teeth. Once I get my new tooth I may have to move from where we live. I will no longer fit in. To say where we live is redneck, would be an understatement. Cajun Jeff has been there. Tony Crispino has been there. Jack and Lee may soon be there. We are at so excited to see Jack and Lee. It’s a beautiful place to Live once you get past all the sister cousins in the neighborhood. I hope I don’t break a hip while water skiing and wake boarding this summer due to not being on Zometa

Hey Brother Todd,

Great news on the PSA and thanks for the call. Lee says Hi and we are looking forward to seeing you and Mandy very soon. Good luck on the tooth. Lee is in the middle of getting an implant and so far it is going well, but she doesn’t have the tooth yet.

Good news on the PSA front Todd. At my age I would go toothless rather than spend the money. Some women are attracted to toothless men. Just not sure if my wife is though. Best wishes on the implant.

I can’t afford to have an implant anywhere but the OHSU dental school. It is about half the cost and they take my insurance. Of course when I was younger I use to get my hair cut at the beauty school. The results were not always what I had hoped for.😐

Todd - good news on the PSA.

I've had two implants done and they're great - better than real teeth. And sometimes the dental schools do amazing work. My older brother had a bunch of work done at the dental school in SF and they did great job.

That is comforting to hear. The Student I am working with is pretty cool. He scheduled my next appointment by text message. He is so fricking young. Lol I am starting to feel really old.

I felt, "mature" when I discovered one of my doctors was the same age as my daughter. Felt down right old when I learned her assistant was the same age as my grandson...

I was waiting for that result and I am overjoyed for you. Right on Brother !!

I also needed to have teeth pulled, so the Dr.. did not give me my usual Xgeva shot in Decmber, so I was off it for 4 months. After my teeth were pulled, the Dentist checked my gums twice in the week after for signs of infection. He gave me amoxicillin. There was no infection and continues to be none, so I am good for another Xgeva shot in April (four months after the teeth were pulled). I was getting a bit worried about my weak bones too, but its all good now.

Todd congrats on the PSA. I've never had an implant. But I had a filling done by a dental student at the VA and also a cleaning by a student hygienist - with my regular dentist and hygienist checking their work. As good as any other dental care I've ever had.

Great news and so glad you're doing fantastic.

I'm also doing great. Still on my first line of defense and my PSA is still <0.064!! Going on five years and six months. I'm extremely thankful to my faith, doctors and meds.
