Results of confirmatory biopsy 4/19/18

So I got the call from my Urologist earlier today. 4 cores positive out of 12. Each positive core was 3+3=6. The positive core involvement was 5%, 5%, 20%, 30%. He said the placement was pretty scattered. Also mentioned something called Atypia. I forgot to ask the prostate size but he's mailing me the report. I'm also trying to get the office to fax it to me. He's thinking rebiopsy in 2 years. I'm due for a followup mpMRI this July. I tend to have difficult biopsies. He just wanted me to process this, but I'm thinking I may still be ok to stay on AS safely. I'm going to set up a consult meeting with him to discuss further.

Well, nothing horrible there, so AS sounds like a plan.

Do let us know what the doctor says after you talk to him.

Hopefully you can stay on AS for a long time.

Comparing my bx from last year and this year.
Bx 3/17: RLBase GS6 5%. LMid GS6 20%. LLApex GS6 5%.
Bx 4/18: RLBase Atypical. RLApex GS6 5%. RApex GS6 5%. LApex GS6 20%.
LLApex GS6 30%. Look like a lot of stuff on Apex end.
MpMRI lesions in 7/17 both in RL Base. Just sayin.

Well I spoke with the urology surgeon yesterday regarding by April biopsy. He was pretty emphatic that my condition is what he called "stable". DRE normal. He also reminded me that AUA guidelines are constantly changing even as it relates to all things prostate. Even the Pass Study is flexible. So PSA every 3 months, an mpMRI next April and reconvene. 3rd biopsy in 2020. Anything weird in the meantime and all bets are off obviously. One day at a time in the world of AS.

Congrats on your findings. We hope you can stay on AS the rest of your life! Good luck and enjoy life. Try to put PC out of your head and enjoy family and friends!

AS can be a bit stressful, but once I started viewing AS in just six-month intervals and stopped my mind from looking years down the road into the unknown (basically a lose-lose scenario), I've a been quite comfortable with it

Thanks all but maybe not so fast. My PSA from that visit 2 days ago just came back at 12.76. All precautions taken. That's more than double my previous high of 5.2 back in February 2016. Left message with the staff.

8/15/18 Update.
I had a repeat PSA today, and it came back at 9.88. Down a little from 12.76 in June. I have my consult next week. I think I have a decision to make.

Let us know what the doc thinks.

Rapid swings are more likely prostatitis, and PSA is falling so it's not clear to me what's going on.

It will be a tough call. Although I could understand if you're thinking of moving towards treatment.

Update 11/29/18 - PSA dropped to 5.13 from 9.88 in August. I guess infection from biopsy is within the realm of possibility as suggested. I guess I'm still getting my mpMRI in January. I see my surgical Uro and RO in January. I see my medical Uro in March.
