I had prostatectomy in January 2018. Things have gone like the surgeon said they would, the usual incontinence and erectile dysfunction. I was prescribed Viagra when I got my catheter out-started taking one a day and 4-5 when sexual activity anticipated. I started getting a heavy feeling in my penis at 4am soon after this and I was able to get a fair erection and orgasm-- ejaculation of urine. I went in first check PSA test. The numbers were good and I think the surgeon said to take 4-5 Viagra tablets when sex anticipated only. I thought this meant to stop the daily tablet. I HAVE A NEW UNDERSTANDING OF THE PHASE" not being able to get it up". This did not happen prior to the surgery. I am DISCOURAGED. I'VE GOT NOTHING-JUST VERY,VERY LIMP. I still orgasm. I am wondering if I misunderstood the dosage of the Viagra. I wonder if I should consider a VED. Would appreciate any thoughts on this matter. Distressed. I know the recovery has been a few steps forward and a few back. I just wonder if there are things I should/could be doing.

First off, it takes time... While there are some guys who bounce back very quickly they are by far the minority. Nerves have been stressed, cut, damaged etc. Takes awhile for them to heal.

You need to call your doctor and follow his protocol. As soon am my catheter was removed I was put on a daily dose of Cialis to promote blood flow which is a requirement for nerve healing.

You/partner should be engaging on a regular basis... Practice, Practice...

Empty your bladder before sex

It's early... do not give up hope.

Time and practice. It can take a year or so for the body and nerves to fully heal.

I have heard for some if not most regaining an erection can take time. I am just over a year out and I can get 90% erection with Viagra and 65% without. My wife and I have figure out ways of work around it and are pretty happy the results. I wish I had a full erection now, but I see slow, steady progress and believe I will have one in the near future. My uro said it could take a couple of years.

Never take that many Viagra pills at once...never...sorry sex will never be the same for most folks post op...but the brain is the most potent organ anyway...for man and for a woman...the body of each merely a vehicle...its where you go...not what you are making the journey in...

generic viagra, sildenafil, comes in 20mg tablets, a max dose would be 5 of those.

Brand name comes in 100mg tablets. Max dose is one (1).

My health plan switched to sildenafil because it's far cheaper, even taking 5 at a time. I only use one 20 mg tablet. your milage may vary, past results are not predictors of future performance. I am not a doctor.

please consult your doctor be starting any exercise program...
