Also, take Colace to help with the constipation.

Ditto on the Colace. You could add some Miralax, but ask your Doc. Anything to relieve constipation and make things easier. Removal of the prostate stresses the rectum.

I finally got to use the bathroom what a relief of gas!! Holy cow what a difference..feal pretty darn good just sore..

I'm lying on the sofa like nothing happened except for this bag hanging on the floor. I feel great what a job the Mayo Clinic did.. Dr Tollefson is amazing..He called today just to check up on me to see how I was doing. I have a check up this coming Tuesday at 8:45 am.. Thxs to everyone on this board for all the advice and support..Basically 24 hrs of pain because of bladder spasm but meds managed that well and after 48 hours I had a bowl movement. Life is good. I'll update after my checkup on tueday..

Glad you got the worst of it behind you. My recovery was fast. Back to work after 10 days. You’ll also be happy when you get that rubber tube out of your junk.

Glad things are going great. Just be careful not to overdo anything b/c you feel so good. That is a recipe for problems. Also don't worry if you soon have some "bad days". That happened to me after thinking I was good to go. You had major surgery. Your insides were squished around. Give yourself plenty of time to heal & use your lines-"can you get me some water please?; can you bring me the remote please?" etc

well great news all lymph nodes and surrounding tissue tested negative. It seems all cancer was contained in the prostate and that probably in a jar sitting in a lab. Well the McDonalds straw came out today ( that's what I called it) bladder test good..So I'm thinking I got this bladder thing no big deal..Well I dont zero control. HELLO depends and huggies ..5 hour trip back home ( Stop to eat celebration) went thru 2 huggies a 3 pullup depends in 5 hours.I'm doing the exercise but they tell me 3 months to a year..just a tip valium helped me just relax the whole week..Not a pill guy but for a week it was great to recover with..I've been walking a 1 mile last few days think ill stretch that ti 1.5 this week then keep adding..I will take my PSA in 3 months...Any depend tips, huggies or any other tips for no control currently...
Thx guys. Overall not to bad experience just 1 bad day..

Donald, great news on the pathology--doesn't get any better than that. As far as continence, you're doing the right things: walking, kegals, keep hydrated (that sounds contrary but true). Stay away from alcohol and caffeine if you can--at least minimize for a while.

The depends etc is individual--what is comfortable, what fits for you. It will get better in stages. And it may be fast, or it may be slow.

Congratulations on the positive pathology news Donald - that's really fantastic. We are very happy for you. Relax, take it easy and do everything you're doing right now. Everything will fall into line soon enough, although some days it probably won't feel like it. Halbert's advice is perfect - the man knows his stuff.

Donald... The path report sounds good! Keep doing your kegals don't over do them tho and keep up the walking I did several times a day instead of a long one the first couple of weeks seem to work better for me. The hardest thing for me was not having my 10 cups of coffee a day had to quit for at least 2 months then started back slowly still after 1 1/2 yrs if I drink more than 3 or 4 cups a day it bothers me. Pretty soon you will be making it all nite without depends and the next thing you know you will be back to normal mmmmmm. a new normal I guess is what I should say. Keep us posted and wish you the best in your journey!

Great news Donald. I second Larry’s advice on the walking.

Re coffee, I started drinking half-caf after my surgery. Green Mountain actually makes the Keurig cups, if your a coffee drinker try it

Thanks to everyone! You all feel like family it's amazing the support you get from a forum for something so major and life changing. You guys rock...Every case is different but you guys nailed almost every step!! I'm honored to be on the other side with this group..
