I have taken the next step in devolution. My brain operates on battery power now. It's called Deep Brain Stimulation for essential tremor. Works great! Eventually, I want to get all my parts replaced.

Can essential tremors be a SE of cancer or it's treatments? I have been experiencing some in my right arm and is getting more noticeable.

Mark- No, that's why it's called essential tremor. It is not secondary to anything else. All kinds of other tremors are possible as a result of drugs.

SP- they did make a helmet to guide the leads into my brain.

ChrisR- that would ave been more efficient, but I would have to eat beans constantly

ITS- that would be too evolved. I'm sure I wreck the planet.

The general term in sci-fi is apparently "wireheading". I read a story many years ago about people using a "droud", directly stimulating the brain's pleasure center directly.

In the story, some guy starved to death because instead of a battery he made a wall-plug adapter so it never ran out of juice. He just sat on a chair and starved to death while plugged in.

I get some essential tremor in my left thumb, but it has never progressed in over 4 years. Sometimes at night I have to tuck it under me to stop the twitching! Mostly I don't notice anymore. I feel for those dealing with that issue; it's pretty annoying.

I know you're awake when they do this...it is also outpatient and you just stroll out afterwards? Is any improvement immediate or does it evolve over time? All the best with your experiment tonight!

He put me to sleep (propofol) for the drilling, but woke me to make sure it was inserted in the right place. I had to stay over in the hospital with annoying wake-ups every 2 hours - just to make sure I didn't have a brain bleed.Improvement was immediate when they turned it on - it can't get any better -100% improvement!

The procedure sounds annoying - especially the getting woke up all the time.

Glad your new equipment is working like you hoped it would.

It occurs to me that none of my man-made parts are electrical. Can I still think of myself as an android if all my onboard enhancements are hydraulic not electric?

It seems that so much of the time someone will report on a procedure they had which was more or less successful, "BUT" they add, and then they go on to list side effects, etc., that they now have to deal with.

But from what you report, it sounds like all went rather well indeed, and you are now reaping all the benefits of said procedure!

No effect on orgasmic function, but it was OK to begin with. Biggest effect so far has been on my laundry - I spill less on myself.

PDA - it just means you are more devolved than I am. Stempunk gets top marks. I was thinking of getting a tattoo over my pulse generator like this one:

As a mechanical engineer, I fully endorse hydraulics. I've been working on a steam light bulb for years, though success remains elusive...
